Update: The ASES After School Program is open on days students attend school in-person during the 2024/2025 school year. ASES is open until 6:00pm each day.
Background: The After School Education and Safety Program (ASES) is the result of the 2002 voter approved initiative, Proposition 49. The ASES program funds the establishment of local after school education and enrichment programs that provide literacy, academic enrichment and safe alternatives for students in kindergarten through eighth grade. The ASES program is provided at no cost to the children and families of the participating Ceres Unified School District sites.
Offered: The After School Program is offered Monday through Friday, from the time school is dismissed until 6:00pm, coinciding with each school site's daily schedule and school calendar.
Components: ASES program components will be provided by CUSD recreational and instructional staff in partnership with community-based organizations such as: Girl Scouts, Ceres Partnership for Healthy Children, etc. Through these partnerships an array of recreational, academic and enrichment activities will be provided to provide our students a safe and fun place to be after school.
Activities: Students can choose from many activities, including: art, dance, games, and outdoor recreation activities. Children who come to this program enjoy a snack or supper (depending on site), work on homework, and then choose an activity to participate in. Some students will also participate in targeted academic instruction through the Academic Intervention Program (Bridge to Learning), in addition to homework assistance, on Tuesdays-Thursdays.
