Adult School
Ceres Adult School offers a wide variety of courses to meet the community's needs.
High School Diploma - Free
Ceres Adult School accepts credits from prior schools attended. In order to obtain a high school diploma, students must complete 170 course units in the following subject areas:

Independent Study - Free
New students must first schedule an appointment with our Community Liaison, it would be advisable to bring your school transcripts from your last school attended to your appointment.
Our online Independent Study Program is an alternative method of earning a high school diploma. Elective as well as core classes can be taken online. Students can meet weekly with the instructor for assistance and direction. This course is designed for students who have good basic skills and can work independently. Accredited through Wasc.
Diploma VS. GED/HiSET: Here are some main differences between the high school diploma and GED to keep in mind when deciding what is the best choice for you.
GED Test Preparation Class (General Educational Development Testing) - Free
Successful completion of the GED test is considered academically equivalent to a high school diploma. Support is given to students in English and/or Spanish. Students receive instruction in the five areas of the GED High School Equivalency test. Once the student feels confident enough to test, he or she may schedule to come into test. Students must be 18 years or older and proof of ID to take GED Test.
GED and HiSET tests are offered at Hanline Elementary School
English as a Second Language (ESL) - Free
This course is designed to teach non English-speaking adults how to communicate effectively in the English language and help students achieve their personal goals. Students will take a placement test at the beginning of the semester, based on their scores they will be placed in an ESL class (Beginning, Intermediate, or Advanced).
Citizenship - Free
This course is designed to help prepare students for taking the United States Citizenship test.
The class is taught in English only.
Community Based Classes - Free
We offer classes that vary from semester to semester or year to year such as Computers, Ag Welding, Paraprofessional, and many more. We also offer special Workshops throughout the year to strengthen peoples' skills in a specific area.
EMT Class - $800 Registration Fee
This course has been approved by the State of California and is authorized by OES Stanislaus County. Our EMT Course provides a comprehensive program that educates students on emergency medicine in a field setting. A practical application of hands-on skills and demonstrations. It will measure your skill level and competence in performing multiple aspect of emergency medicine by using various emergency equipment and implementing emergency protocols and procedures.
